Adding Colours To Your Plate

Today I spoke to one of my students after class and we discussed about being vegetarian... Firstly, I have recently decided to transition myself to be a vegetarian and have almost completely stopped consuming meat... The results have been higher energy levels, a lot of weight loss and feeling my internal digestive system being light and processing like a well-oiled machine!

My student Sallee who has been a vegetarian for 20 years, has a very lean yet healthy looking body... Her skin looks great and everything about her just feels healthy and nice... I was shocked when she told me her age... I have definitely made my final decision about being vegetarian after hearing that!

We then discussed about nutrition and shared our experiences of what to eat as a vegetarian... She was marvelling about how my 96-year old grandfather could survive and be so strong and healthy until that age! Here is one of the tips we concluded from our discussion:

Add bright coloured foods in your diet - the stronger and brighter the colours are, the more antioxidants, vitamins and nutrients the food is likely to have... for example, blueberries have a very strong blue colour, so strong that if you stain your clothes with its juice, it is very hard to remove... blueberries are packed with antioxidants, which have the benefits of anti-ageing... my other favourites are pumpkin, oranges, papayas, spirulina, pineapples, kiwis, blackcurrants... I can go on and on with nature's wealth of fruits, vegetables and nutrients that come with them!

Til next time, xoxo
